Job Description
Summary: Applied Materials is a global leader in materials engineering solutions used to produce virtually every new chip and advanced display in the world. The New College Grad IT Systems Analyst will analyze and document lab business processes, support projects, and collaborate with engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Own functional understanding of digital lab solutions, starting with Asset, Hardware, and Materials Management
- Analyze and document lab business processes, use cases, and functional requirements
- Support projects end to end: requirements, deployment, testing, and post go live support
- Partner with engineering and delivery teams to ensure high quality, on time solutions
- Perform functional testing and validate delivered solutions against business needs
- Act as the primary business support contact for the assigned pillar
- Contribute to automated deployments, troubleshooting, and operational stability
- Design, prototype, and develop custom software applications supporting semiconductor equipment and enterprise systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate software issues; collaborate with senior engineers to deploy solutions
- Support production systems by resolving incident tickets escalated from L1/L2 and assisting with root cause analysis
- Communicate with internal customers to understand reported issues and validate fixes
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for existing applications and processes
- Follow enterprise IT policies, compliance standards, and documentation requirements
- Leverage modern AI tools to improve coding efficiency, learning, and productivity
- Support enterprise platforms (SAP + integrated apps): Support SAP and GIS integrated enterprise applications, with exposure to SAP ECC, S/4HANA, GTS, EWM and related downstream platforms
- Assist in mapping functional workflows to supporting IT systems, integrations, APIs, and databases; document 'as-is/to-be' process flows
- Contribute to IT enhancements and projects through test execution, defect triage, release documentation, and deployment/checkout support
- Work with Business, Security, SAP Basis, Integration, and Infrastructure teams to deliver assigned initiatives and operational outcomes
- Participate in application security practices for SAP and related downstream systems; follow governance, change management, and compliance processes; support audits with guidance
- Identify and execute small continuous improvement items for existing systems (automation, reliability, performance, ticket reduction)
- Engage in NCG development programs, training sessions, and rotational assignments within the CIO organization
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and support
- Working knowledge of infrastructure concepts (compute, storage, networking)
- Familiarity with ITIL or IT service management frameworks
- Ability to work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams
- Strong understanding of core software engineering concepts (data structures, APIs, databases, SDLC)
- Academic or internship experience with: JavaScript and/or Python, React or Angular, Relational databases (SQL Server or similar), Basic API development
- Ability to follow established procedures to analyze and solve standard technical problems
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable asking questions and learning from feedback
- Ability to work independently with guidance in a structured enterprise environment
- Comfortable working in unfamiliar enterprise platforms (including SAP ecosystems) and ramping quickly through training/rotation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automated deployment pipelines and CI/CD
- Hands on troubleshooting of clusters, applications, or networks
- Exposure to ML, simulation, or GPU heavy environments
- Bash scripting and cloud cost optimization experience (especially AWS)
- Prior experience in semiconductor labs or manufacturing systems
- Experience with DevOps practices and Git based workflows
- Exposure to Databricks or data lake technologies
- Familiarity with AI assisted development tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, OpenAI, Claude)
- Internship or project experience supporting production or enterprise systems
- Interest in semiconductor, manufacturing, or industrial technology environments
- Coursework, internship, or project exposure to SAP ECC, S/4HANA, GTS, EWM, SAP security concepts, Basis/integration touchpoints, or SAP-adjacent ecosystems
- Understanding of application security basics (RBAC, least privilege, secure coding, audit logging), especially in enterprise environments
- Any experience with on-call concepts, incident management, monitoring dashboards, or ticketing systems
- Experience scripting/automation for operational tasks (Python scripts, simple pipelines, workflow automation)
