Job Description
Role Summary
- To operate conventional lathe and milling machines for precision machining of components as per engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules, ensuring safe work practices at all times.
Responsibilities:
Machine Operation
- Set up and operate conventional lathes and milling machines as per job requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and job instructions.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials.
Quality Control
- Inspect machined components using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges, and dial indicators.
- Ensure parts meet dimensional and surface finish specifications.
- Record inspection results and maintain proper documentation.
Maintenance & Housekeeping
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and tools.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and free from hazards.
Safety Compliance
- Follow all safety guidelines, including PPE usage and safe machine operation.
- Report unsafe conditions or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
Continuous Improvement
- Suggest process improvements to enhance productivity and quality.
- Participate in training programs to upgrade skills.
Requirements:
ITI Turner / ITI Machinist OR completion of a full-term apprenticeship.
ITI with apprenticeship completion can apply.
2–5 years of experience in conventional lathe and milling operations is preferred.
Knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, and material properties.
Candidate can read and speak Kannada.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Familiarity with measuring instruments and quality standards.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods.
