Job Description
Summary: Applied Engineering, Inc. is seeking a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer - Production Support in Brooklyn Park, MN. The role involves designing and developing mechanical components, collaborating with production teams, and supporting various engineering activities to enhance product design and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Create detailed engineering drawings and documentation for manufacturing
- Collaborate with production teams to refine designs for manufacturability and efficiency
- Support fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting activities on the shop floor
- Drive improvements in product design, documentation, and engineering standards
- Own designs from concept through production, balancing speed, quality, and practicality
- Work effectively in a fast‑paced environment with evolving requirements
- Travel frequently to customer locations to support troubleshooting and project needs
- Work collaboratively with suppliers and Applied partners
- Contribute to projects that impact communities in Brooklyn Center, New Hope, Fridley, and Coon Rapids, and the greater Greater Minneapolis metro
- Apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values ownership and innovation
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency with SolidWorks
- Experience creating detailed engineering drawings for manufacturing
- Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, changing environment
- Self‑starter with strong ownership, accountability, and follow‑through
- Comfortable working directly with manufacturing teams and on the production floor
- Experience with sheet metal design
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
- Exposure to fabrication, assembly, or product development workflows
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM a plus
