Job Description
Summary: Apollo is a high-growth, global alternative asset management and retirement services platform. They are seeking an Analyst to join their Asset-Backed Finance team, focusing on residential mortgage-backed securities and assisting with daily trading support activities, investment opportunity screening, and analytics preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Partner directly with Traders and Portfolio Managers within the Asset Backed Finance team to support daily trading and portfolio management activities
- Participate in screening of potential investment opportunities in primary and secondary residential mortgage-backed securities market
- Assist in preparation of presentations for investments and internal stakeholder meetings
- Accurately book and maintain all trade activity across internal systems, ensuring timely and precise capture of transactions
- Liaise with Operations and Back Office teams to monitor trade settlements, proactively resolve discrepancies, and minimize trade fails
- Reconcile positions and validate trading exposure, position sizes, and P&L to ensure alignment between front-office and official books and records
- Assist with trade confirmations, lifecycle events, and ongoing portfolio maintenance across structured credit and asset-backed positions
- Support ad-hoc analysis and reporting to facilitate investment decision-making and risk management
- The candidate will be expected to develop an in-depth knowledge of US residential mortgage sector and structured investments
- Over time, an individual who demonstrates acumen and growth potential will take on additional, higher-level responsibilities
Required Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of relevant experience; prior experience in residential mortgage is preferred but not required. Recent graduates with strong academic credentials and demonstrated interest in fixed income markets will be considered
- Bachelor's degree from a top-tier university with a record of academic achievement (ideally in a field requiring quantitative or technical aptitude such as economics, finance, math, etc.)
- Demonstrated analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required
- The ideal candidate will be professional, proactive, well-organized, flexible, dependable, and able to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with a close attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Basic VBA and SQL is desirable but not required
