Job Description
Summary: Apex Companies is one of the fastest growing engineering and environmental consulting firms in the US, seeking an Environmental Scientist to join their team. The role involves performing field work, conducting environmental site inspections, and managing data related to sustainability efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Perform field work including collecting soil, surface water, groundwater, soil vapor, and indoor air samples
- Routine operation and maintenance of remediation systems
- Become proficient in use and maintenance field monitoring equipment
- Conduct Phase I environmental site inspections
- Conduct stormwater inspections to ensure adherence to plans or regulatory
- Gather and manage data manually and electronically requirements
- Enter data into tables and figures and update report templates
- Actively develop your own professional growth and manage your own schedule
- Actively participate in a culture of safe work practices
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a similar field
- Valid driver's license, good driving history, and access to reliable transportation are required
- Recent graduate or someone with up to 3 years of experience with environmental field sampling and data collection
- Comfortable working outside year-round and traveling for work up to one week at a time, including travel to remote project sites
- Ability to work >8-hour days, lift 50 lbs, and stand for long periods of time (with breaks)
- Ability to multi-task and manage your own schedule
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data management and report preparation
- Experience with safety programs and safe work practices
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER training
