The Infusion Nurse provides comprehensive care to patients and their families during all phases of cancer care – pre-treatment, during treatment and post-treatment. The Infusion Nurse educates patients and their families regarding: Diagnosis Treatment Side effects Dietary issues The Infusion Nurse also: Performs venous access appropriately for type of chemotherapy Manages venous access devices per protocol Assesses blood return Uses antithrombotics when indicated Administers chemotherapy as ordered per protocol Manages infusion reactions Documents appropriately in the EMR and generates and approves billing charges Phone triage Provides a clean, safe environment in which to provide patient care Understands handling of hazardous substances and waste Requirements Experience & Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) RN Licensure Minimum 2 yrs experience preferred Skills and Abilities: Excellent skills in physical assessment Ability to work well independently and within a team Excellent skills in time management, organization and communication Detail-oriented
