The Key Purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership and governance of Security Management and associated disciplines, including Crisis Management, Event Security, Investigations and Risk Management, in alignment with the Africa Zone business strategy. The role serves as the custodian of security standards, governance frameworks and legal compliance requirements, driving the implementation of innovative solutions and best practices to protect people, assets, operations and brand reputation. The incumbent provides expert advisory support to senior leadership and ensures alignment of security practices with local legislation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Crisis Management & Business Resilience
- Lead the coordination and management of identified and emerging crisis situations that may impact the Africa Zone, protecting business continuity, company reputation and stakeholder interests.
- Drive crisis preparedness through the development and execution of crisis simulations, scenario planning and risk assessment models to proactively identify and mitigate potential threats.
- Provide expert guidance and recommendations to business leaders during high-risk incidents, ensuring effective response and resolution strategies.
Event Security & Risk Management
- Provide strategic oversight of all planned company and brand events, ensuring appropriate security and safety standards are implemented and aligned to business, regulatory and insurance requirements.
- Conduct event risk assessments, monitor execution and lead post-event reviews to drive continuous improvement and embed best practices across the organisation.
- Ensure risks associated with corporate events are effectively identified, managed and mitigated to safeguard employees, consumers, assets and brand reputation.
Investigations, Compliance & Loss Prevention
- Lead and oversee internal investigations and security audits relating to fraud, misconduct, losses, criminal activity and policy breaches.
- Partner with Compliance, Forensics, Legal and HR teams to identify control gaps and implement risk mitigation strategies that minimise losses and organisational exposure.
- Provide specialist expertise on labour law, criminal law, investigative processes and evidentiary requirements across relevant jurisdictions to support informed business decision-making.
- Drive loss prevention initiatives and recovery strategies, including civil recoveries, contractor negligence claims, provident fund recoveries and excess recoveries.
Insurance Risk Management
- Lead the monitoring and analysis of insurance claims, loss trends and associated costs, developing strategic interventions to reduce risk exposure and optimise insurance expenditure.
- Partner with leadership teams and insurers to implement risk control measures that reduce claims, improve recoveries and deliver sustainable cost savings.
- Ensure that insurance-related risks are effectively managed and that all applicable recoveries are pursued and realised.
Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the Africa Zone subject matter expert on security and risk management, providing strategic advice and direction to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, insurers and service providers.
- Drive compliance with security governance frameworks, policies, standards and legislative requirements across the Africa Zone.
Financial & Supplier Management
- Manage security budgets in accordance with Zero-Based Budgeting principles, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and delivery of value.
- Lead security supplier governance and performance management to ensure effective service delivery, compliance and cost optimisation.

- Strategic risk management and crisis leadership.
- Ability to assess complex and ambiguous situations, balancing business needs with risk mitigation requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability across senior leadership, business functions and external partners.
- Subject matter expertise in security management, investigations, loss prevention and business resilience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead responses to high-impact events such as violent strikes, expatriate evacuations, major event disruptions, travel security threats and significant inventory losses.
- Sound commercial and financial acumen, including budget and supplier management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability.
- Ability to influence outcomes across multiple functions, geographies and stakeholder groups**.**
Minimum Requirements:
- 4-year appropriate tertiary qualification, i.e.
- Bachelor of Technology: Security Management
- Diploma Investigation
- Management Qualification from a recognized Business School
- Strong interpersonal / business skills and time management skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management.
- Ability to generate team cooperation.
- Capable of being entrusted with “confidential” information.
- Ability to be flexible with duties and scope of work.
- Minimum 10 year's experience in Security Management/ Loss Prevention.
