Anderson University’s South Carolina School of the Arts invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position as Venue Technical Director. The Venue Technical Director leads technical operations for campus performance spaces, including Henderson Auditorium, Merritt Theatre, and Daniel Recital Hall. Working with both internal and external partners, the Venue Technical Director coordinates technical and event services for academic programs such as Music, Theatre and Dance, Chapel, Convocations, and Commencement, as well as community events, rentals, and summer programs. The Venue Technical Director leads, trains, and schedules student technical staff, oversees audio, lighting, video, and staging for events, and collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and external clients to ensure seamless execution. Serving as the primary technical contact, this role will provide effectively communicate proactively before, during, and after events while maintaining equipment, venues, and technical inventory to the highest standards.
Knowledge equivalent to that gained through a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, a strong background in live event production and stage management, and proficiency with audio, lighting, and projection systems, including digital audio consoles such as Midas, Behringer M32, and PreSonus is required. This role requires proven leadership experience, strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain, prioritize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously. This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, as well as occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
