Summary: AMT Engineering is seeking a motivated CAD Intern to join their civil engineering team in Christiansburg. This internship offers hands-on experience in construction plan drafting and project support, aiming to identify a strong candidate for future full-time employment. Responsibilities: - Assist in preparing and revising civil engineering construction plans using AutoCAD - Draft plan sheets, details, profiles, and related design documents - Apply established company and industry drafting standards - Incorporate markups and revisions from engineers and project managers - Help create technical reports, cost estimates, and project documentation - Assist with preparation of permit applications and submission packages - Support file organization, document management, and other administrative project tasks - Learn how engineering concepts are translated into construction documents and regulatory submittals Required Qualifications: - Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to follow standards, templates, and technical instructions consistently - Good spatial reasoning and visualization skills - Ability to understand how individual drawing elements fit into an overall project - Strong written and organizational skills for reports and documentation - Ability to learn and willingness accept feedback - Dependability and ability to work in an office team environment Preferred Qualifications: - Coursework, training, or certification in AutoCAD / CAD drafting - Experience with technical drawing, drafting, architecture, engineering graphics, or design software - Interest in civil engineering, land development, transportation, utilities, or infrastructure projects - No prior professional experience is required.
