Job Description
Amphastar Pharmaceuticals is seeking a motivated Network & Cloud Infrastructure Specialist (AWS Connectivity) to support enterprise network infrastructure, SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud connectivity, disaster-recovery readiness, VPN access, and network-security controls.
This on-site position will work closely with a senior internal network engineer who designed and implemented the network infrastructure, SAP Private Cloud VPN connectivity, and disaster-recovery configuration.
Key Responsibilities:
SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud Connectivity
- Monitor and support connectivity between internal locations and SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud environments.
- Support customer-managed connectivity components, including VPN tunnels, firewalls, routing, DNS, and network-access controls.
- Monitor primary and backup SAP connections and promptly escalate outages, latency, packet loss, routing, DNS, or VPN problems.
- Work with the senior network engineer, SAP support teams, internet-service providers, and consultants to resolve connectivity incidents.
- Validate connectivity for SAP production, quality-assurance, development, and disaster-recovery environments.
- Maintain diagrams and records for SAP connections, VPNs, firewall rules, routing, DNS, and escalation contacts.
VPN and Secure Access Support
- Support site-to-site VPN connections used for SAP and other critical business systems.
- Assist with secure remote-access troubleshooting and monitor VPN tunnel availability, traffic, and performance.
- Support approved VPN changes and failover tests under the direction of the senior network engineer.
- Verify that VPN access follows established cybersecurity, access-control, and change-management requirements.
Enterprise Network Support
- Assist with administration and maintenance of firewalls, routers, switches, wireless networks, internet circuits, and internal network infrastructure.
- Monitor availability, capacity, latency, packet loss, and device health; respond to alerts and perform initial troubleshooting.
- Support LAN, WAN, VLAN, routing, switching, wireless, DHCP, DNS, and network segmentation.
Network Infrastructure Operations
- Assist with firmware updates, configuration backups, equipment replacement, licensing, warranty tracking, and lifecycle management.
- Support connectivity for offices, data centers, manufacturing facilities, laboratories, warehouses, and remote locations.
- Support network connectivity for printers, scanners, handheld devices, SAP workstations, and other business equipment.
- Maintain device inventories, circuit information, IP-address documentation, support contacts, and configuration records.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
- Support network components associated with disaster-recovery and business-continuity plans.
- Assist with scheduled recovery testing for SAP connectivity, data centers, internet services, VPN connections, and critical network services.
- Verify backup network paths and failover connections; document procedures, results, issues, corrective actions, and final validation.
- Assist with network recovery during outages under the direction of senior infrastructure personnel.
- Maintain current recovery diagrams, checklists, escalation contacts, and operating procedures.
Network Security Controls
- Assist with monitoring and administration of firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, access-control lists, and secure remote-access services.
- Review network and security alerts, perform initial triage, and escalate suspicious or unauthorized activity.
- Support approved firewall-rule and network-access requests and help verify that access remains limited to authorized business purposes.
- Assist with firewall-rule reviews, access reviews, vulnerability remediation, security-control testing, and configuration backups.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel during investigations and support approved audit-evidence requests.
Monitoring and Incident Response
- Monitor network devices, circuits, VPN tunnels, and critical infrastructure using available monitoring platforms.
- Create and maintain incident tickets with accurate symptoms, troubleshooting actions, findings, escalation details, and resolutions.
- Communicate service status and restoration progress to users and support teams.
- Assist with root-cause analysis and update troubleshooting guides after outages or recurring problems.
- Participate in planned after-hours maintenance or emergency support when required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- One to three years of network support, infrastructure support, IT operations, internship, laboratory, or comparable hands-on experience.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting, DHCP, and DNS.
- Knowledge of firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, remote access, and network-security concepts.
- Familiarity with monitoring, incident tickets, systematic troubleshooting, and escalation procedures.
- Ability to read and maintain network diagrams and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to follow established procedures, manage assigned tasks, and collaborate with senior technical staff.
- Willingness to participate in planned after-hours maintenance or emergency support when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Cisco, Meraki, or similar network and firewall technologies.
- Exposure to VMware-based data-center infrastructure, site-to-site VPNs, or cloud network connectivity.
- Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA, RISE with SAP, SAP Private Cloud, or another cloud-hosted enterprise application.
- Basic understanding of disaster recovery, redundancy, failover, Zero Trust, multifactor authentication, and secure access.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, manufacturing, healthcare, or another regulated environment.
- Knowledge of change management, IT general controls, SOX controls, or audit-evidence requirements.
- Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or a similar entry-level certification is preferred
