Job Description
Head of Risk, Technology & Information
Location: NSW, Australia
If you live in Australia or New Zealand, you’ve likely heard of AMP. But at a time when society is changing, we are too. We’re now a nimbler business with new leadership and thinking.
For us, these are exciting times. There’s a real potential for big thinkers to help us redefine what financial services could be. And turn our legacy into something even more positive and powerful for the future.
Help people create their tomorrow, while you create yours
We help people with their banking, super, retirement and finances. Through upturns, downturns, recessions, and major life transitions. Every day, we help people see and make more of their financial potential, so that they can create their tomorrow. And we’ve been doing it for over 170 years.
If we do our job well, we genuinely add to the prosperity of our country and its people.
How you will make an impact
- Lead AMP's Second Line Technology & Information Risk function, providing independent oversight, guidance and challenge across cyber security, technology, AI, data and privacy risks while leading a high-performing specialist risk team.
- Partner with the Chief Technology & AI Officer, Chief Information Security Officer, Chief Operating Officer and senior leaders to strengthen risk management, enhance control effectiveness and support risk-informed business decisions.
- Oversee technology, cyber, AI, data and privacy risk frameworks, regulatory compliance and first-line risk management activities, ensuring alignment with AMP's Risk Management Framework, risk appetite and regulatory obligations.
- Deliver strategic risk insights, governance reporting and independent challenge to Executive and Board forums, while overseeing significant incidents, emerging risks and remediation activities to strengthen organisational resilience.
What you will bring to the role
- Ideally at least 8 plus years' experience in Risk, Compliance, Audit or related disciplines, including leadership of high-performing teams within complex, highly regulated environments.
- Deep expertise in second line risk management across technology, cyber security, data, AI and privacy risks, supported by strong knowledge of risk frameworks, governance and assurance practices.
- Demonstrated ability to influence risk culture and embed effective risk management practices across large, complex organisations.
- Strong understanding of the Australian financial services regulatory environment, including APRA, ASIC, OAIC and relevant prudential and privacy obligations.
- Experience influencing Executive and Board stakeholders, providing independent challenge and translating complex risk issues into clear business insights.
- Proven ability to drive strategic risk outcomes, strengthen governance and lead organisational change across large and complex environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Who you are
You are a strategic and commercially minded risk leader with the credibility and executive presence to influence Executive and Board stakeholders, build trusted relationships and provide independent, constructive challenge. You bring exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills and excel at translating complex technology, cyber, data, AI and privacy risks into clear, actionable insights that support informed decision-making and positive customer outcomes.
You combine a forward-looking mindset with sound judgement, identifying emerging risks, underlying drivers and opportunities to strengthen governance, controls, organisational resilience and risk culture. Comfortable balancing risk management requirements with business objectives, you deliver practical and sustainable outcomes in a dynamic and highly regulated environment.
An authentic and collaborative leader, you develop high-performing teams, foster accountability and create an environment where people can contribute, innovate and grow. Equally comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels, you bring the adaptability, influence and leadership required to navigate complexity and deliver enterprise-wide impact.
