Job Description
Summary: AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in various areas. They are seeking a Junior Operations Research Analyst to support the modeling, simulation, and analysis of platforms and systems, utilizing simulation tools and statistical methods.
Responsibilities:
- Support the modeling, simulation, and analysis of platforms, sensors, and weapons within OSD-approved scenarios (with a heavy focus on Navy ISR&T)
- Use a host of simulation tools, MATLAB and statistical methods to analyze system-trade comparisons as well as demonstrate mission utility
- Develop system performance metrics that provide insights to Government customers and decision-makers
- Prepare analytical product reports and provide technical material for briefing to Government leadership
- Work travel to quarterly working group meetings (within CONUS) is possible as well as additional training opportunities
- Work in teams to develop models of tactical situations in which to study system tradespace and demonstrate mission utility
- Analyze environmental data and impacts on real world platforms and sensors
- Apply advanced statistical methods to improve effectiveness of system capability
- Guide Concept of Operations development through analysis
- Interface with Subject Matter Experts to establish model assumptions
- Clearly communicate complex technical methods
- Generate presentations communicating analysis methodology and results for audiences ranging from MORS conferences to Flag Officers
- Apply machine learning and pattern recognition optimization techniques
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SSBI (SCI preferred)
- U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in operations research or related field with at least 24 semester hours in combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, computer science, engineering (aerospace, electrical, mechanical, systems engineering, etc.) or in political science, intelligence, foreign or international relations, or national security studies
- One (1) to four (4) years of relevant experience
- Familiarity with campaign/mission-level modeling and simulation applications and techniques
- Experience with MATLAB, SAS JMP, Python or PERL
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with campaign/mission-level modeling and simulation applications and techniques
- Example Applications: Naval Simulation System (NSS), AFSIM, STORM, EADSIM, STK
