Summary: American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) is a leading issuer and provider of Commercial products and services. This position focuses on Small Business New Accounts Underwriting, defining underwriting policies and onboarding processes while collaborating with various functions to support profitable growth and customer experience. Responsibilities: - Be responsible for new accounts decisions for US Commercial Small Business Products from a risk perspective - this includes analytics, strategy, and capabilities, across new accounts and existing customers - Drive Core Underwriting risk strategies to determine approval and decline decisions for customer applications leveraging core risk infrastructure include risk models, lending capabilities and bureau information - Partner with marketing partners and targeting teams to harmonize underwriting and targeting - Work with and influence Product, Marketing, and Finance teams within the GCS organization and broader credit and fraud risk organization to design and implement critical initiatives that enable prudent and profitable growth while controlling for through-the-cycle volatility - Ensure control, compliance, and operational risk mitigation in all processes and design for a streamlined user experience across customer touch points Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or Computer Science - Blend of analytical skills, process expertise, project management, and relationship-building skills - Ability to handle large datasets using SAS, SQL, R, Python or another similar programming language - Ability to think strategically and apply both quantitative methods and business insights to drive results - Clear, effective written and oral communication skills - Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions Required Skills: SAS, SQL, R, Python, Econometrics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Project Management, Strategic Thinking Benefits: Bonus, Benefits
