Summary: American Electric Power is offering a Summer Internship Program for college students, providing an opportunity to learn and contribute to the electric utility industry. Interns will engage in meaningful projects, collaborate with teams, and receive mentorship while enhancing their skills. Responsibilities: - Perform studies, projects and assignments of general scope and/or specifically assigned duties relative to carrying out the functions of the department - Collaborating with project teams on planning, designing and executing enterprise resource projects to ensure seamless integration - Assist in the preparation, analysis and interpretation of information and statistical reports as required - Conduct special studies, analyses and investigations; record information and prepare graphic and interpretative illustrations - Maintain departmental records and prepare statements and reports relating to operating activities; analyze and interpret such records and reports as directed by management - Work with other personnel of the department and assist in the performance of their assignments - Supporting documentation for decision-making processes and initiatives aimed at improving operational performance and safety in our services - Embrace AEP’s safety culture by understanding safety guidelines and standards in both office and field environments - Become familiar with Company organization, departmental functional responsibilities, and group interrelationships - Expand your skills by taking on new challenges Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Engineering in a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) OR Data Science or related degree OR a Business degree with a focus on Finance or Accounting - Must have completed at least your freshman year - Graduation date of December 2026 or later - Must be at least 18 years old - Willingness and ability to relocate for the summer to one of our engineering internship locations, if necessary - This position is not eligible for sponsorship, OPT, or CPT Preferred Qualifications: - Minimum 3.0 GPA - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Interest in the electric utility sector, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices - Effective time management skills Required Skills: Engineering degree, Data Science degree, Business degree Important Skills: Minimum 3.0 GPA Nice-to-Have Skills: Interest in energy sector, Interest in sustainability Benefits: Paid AEP-recognized holidays, 401(k) account
