About Altera
At Altera™, our independence as the world’s largest pure‑play FPGA solutions provider gives us the focus, speed, and agility to innovate without compromise. With more than four decades of industry‑leading FPGA expertise, our singular mission is to deliver the programmable technologies that help customers differentiate, innovate, and scale across rapidly evolving markets like AI, cloud, networking, and edge. As an independent company, we move faster, invest deeper, and partner more closely—empowering our teams to drive breakthrough innovation and shape the future of the FPGA industry.
About the Role
Altera is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Security Architect to lead the architecture, design, and execution of security technologies across our silicon, firmware, software, and platform ecosystems. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for shaping the long-term security vision for next-generation FPGA and adaptive compute solutions used in some of the world’s most demanding environments.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in semiconductor and platform security architecture, with experience driving security strategy across complex SoC, FPGA, or infrastructure products at scale. This leader will partner cross-functionally with executive leadership, silicon engineering, firmware/software teams, product management, customer engineering, and external ecosystem partners to ensure security is embedded throughout the entire product lifecycle.
This role requires a combination of hands-on technical depth, architectural leadership, industry influence, and the ability to guide large engineering organizations through evolving security challenges and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
Define and drive Altera’s long-term platform and product security architecture strategy across FPGA, SoC, AI, and adaptive compute solutions
Lead security architecture initiatives spanning silicon root of trust, secure boot, cryptography, key management, trusted execution environments, firmware security, hardware isolation, runtime protections, and supply chain security
Partner with executive leadership and engineering teams to establish security-first development practices across hardware and software organizations
Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership for next-generation secure compute platforms and infrastructure deployments
Evaluate emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors impacting semiconductor and programmable logic technologies
Lead security reviews, threat modeling, risk assessments, and architecture governance processes across major product initiatives
Collaborate closely with silicon, firmware, software, validation, and platform engineering teams to ensure scalable and secure implementations
Influence product roadmaps and customer engagements by translating industry security requirements into platform capabilities
Drive alignment with industry standards, regulatory frameworks, and customer security expectations across enterprise, cloud, telecom, automotive, aerospace, and government markets
Represent Altera externally with strategic customers, industry consortiums, and security partners as a technical authority and thought leader
Mentor senior engineers and architects while helping establish best practices across the broader engineering organization
Support incident response, vulnerability remediation strategies, and long-term security hardening initiatives when required
