Job Description
Summary: ALS is a global team focused on scientific testing and data-driven insights aimed at building a healthier future. The Metals Analyst will conduct instrumental analysis of environmental samples using various technologies and ensure compliance with quality control standards while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare standards and reagents
- Tune, calibrate, and run analytical sequences per standard operating procedures
- The technician is responsible for learning and utilizing computer software and systems required to process data
- Trouble shoot analytical systems (i.e., instrumental and sample preparation non-conformities)
- Responsible for accurate document results in controlled logbooks, bench sheets, etc
- Must develop an understanding of quality control and the requirements of quality control
- Recognize and maintain safe working conditions. Handle hazardous material appropriately and safely. Use appropriate safety equipment
- Maintain a clean, orderly work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- 4-year Degree in chemistry or related field
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word
- Multi-tasked, organized, and detail oriented
- Proficient English verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with staff, management and clients in a professional manner
- Able to work well in a team and has problem solving capabilities
- Knowledge of working in a laboratory environment is very helpful
- Must develop an understanding of quality control and the requirements of quality control
- Recognize and maintain safe working conditions. Handle hazardous material appropriately and safely. Use appropriate safety equipment
- Maintain a clean, orderly work environment
- Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with staff, management, and clients
- Able to sit, and /or stand for 100% of an 8-hour day
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment
- Must have average vision and be able to see to read reports and operate equipment
- Must be able to distinguish differences in color and shade
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion actions
- Must be able to withstand cold temperatures for at least 1 hour
