Summary: Alpha Public Schools is a public charter school network dedicated to providing access to an outstanding education in East San José. The Special Education Paraprofessional will support students with special needs by delivering lessons, providing behavior support, and collaborating with teachers and families to ensure student progress on IEP goals. Responsibilities: - Plan and deliver lessons to individuals and small groups of scholars (with special needs and without) that target remedial skill needs, IEP goals, and general education content - Provide in the moment behavior support and coaching, and respond to crisis behavior as necessary - Analyze data and conduct assessments to track student progress on IEP goals and assist Education specialist(s) in the completion of quarterly progress reports - Build Relationships by collaborating with special education teachers, Managing Director of Special Education, general education teachers, school leadership team, and families regarding student needs and progress Required Qualifications: - AA Degree required (BA preferred) - OR completion of two years of college, not a degree but 72 quarter hours or 48 semester hours of college credit - OR a passing score on the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Test - Experience working with students with high needs - High behavioral expectations and academic expectations for all students - Excellent knowledge of child development and educational practices - Willingness to be flexible with your schedule - A commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities Required Skills: Special education, IEP goal tracking, Behavior support and crisis intervention, Child development knowledge, Educational practices, Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Test, Commitment to underserved communities Benefits: Health benefits plans for medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage for staff and their families, Retirement matching options, Paid time off for holidays and Winter break between the end of December and New Year's (2 weeks), Generous paternity/maternity leave benefits including 4 weeks of paid parental leave in addition to the state and federal leave allowances, APS Tuition Assistance Program provides up to $4,000 of financial assistance towards attaining bachelor degrees and teacher credentials, Employee Assistance Program that provides access to professional services for workplace, life, and wellbeing support and services
