Job Description
Summary: Highgate is a leading real estate investment and hospitality management company with a diverse portfolio of hotels. They are seeking an Accounting and Finance Intern who will support the Hotel Accounting and Finance Team, participate in the month-end close process, and assist with various financial tasks to ensure accurate financial reporting and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Primarily work alongside the Hotel Accounting and Finance Team
- Participate in month-end close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations and month end financial statements
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
- Support preparation of journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Help review revenue, cash, and expense transactions for assigned hotel properties
- Assist with accounts payable, invoice tracking, and vendor-related follow-up
- Assist with accounts receivable, invoice creation, and collection efforts
- Support preparation of monthly financial packages and variance analysis
- Partner with hotel operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Maintain organized accounting schedules and supporting documentation for audits and internal review
- Support FP&A functions including maintenance of SharePoint reporting sites and Power BI dashboard updates (optional)
- Assist with various projects as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality-related (in progress)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism
- Interest in hospitality finance or hotel operations
- Knowledge of Accounting and/or Finance principles
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports)
- Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time-efficient manner
- Ability to participate in a 10-week program (June - August)
- This position requires an applicant to reside and work onsite in Denver, CO (Brown Palace Hotel & Spa / Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum Senior status is preferred
- Microsoft Suite skills including PowerPoint, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Power BI skills a plus (not required)
- Support FP&A functions including maintenance of SharePoint reporting sites and Power BI dashboard updates (optional)
