Job Description
Summary: Alkeus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical-stage biotech company focused on the development of innovative therapies to treat serious diseases of the eye. The Finance & Accounting Intern will support the Accounting and Finance team with various operational, analytical, and administrative projects, providing hands-on exposure to real-world accounting and finance processes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the procurement team with the maintenance of vendor records in Airbase, including ad hoc vendor related projects such as validating the existing vendor database in preparation for transition to a new procure to pay (P2P) system
- Support accounts payable team with the maintenance of vendor bank account setups, and resolution of outstanding vendor issues
- Manage the invoices mailbox, including reviewing incoming invoices and entering them into Airbase for processing
- Assist the accounting team with daily tasks related to the expense reporting system (Concur), including reviewing employee expense reports for compliance with company travel and expense policies
- Maintain the weekly finance and accounting team agenda and take meeting minutes
- Assist the accounting team with monthly close activities as needed, preparing supporting schedules and reconciliations
- Support the finance team with budgeting and forecasting activities as needed
- Contribute to ad hoc finance and accounting projects to support the broader finance team
- Assist with various system implementations and enhancements (e.g., NetSuite and other finance systems) as assigned
- Deliver on other related projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Experience with Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling is a plus
- Familiarity with financial statements and key performance metrics
- Demonstrated record of strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience translating complex concepts for various audiences
