Job Description
Summary: Alexander Dennis is a global leader in the design and manufacture of double-deck and lightweight buses. The Electrical Manufacturing Engineering Intern supports the Manufacturing Engineering team in improving production processes, enhancing efficiency, and maintaining safe and effective operations within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Follow safe working practices within the manufacturing environment
- Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
- Assist in monitoring manufacturing processes and identifying issues
- Support basic troubleshooting and production activities under supervision
- Help document and standardize work practices and procedures
- Assist with workstation layout, line balance, and production flow
- Participate in production meetings and complete follow-up actions
- Support investigations into process performance and efficiency
- Assist with tool and equipment coordination
- Help maintain production documentation (e.g., kit lists, takt charts, SOPs)
- Complete assigned tasks and projects aligned with internship goals
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Strong interest in manufacturing and engineering environments
- Eagerness to learn and apply technical concepts
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
- Ability to follow procedures and work safely
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
- Adherence to Environmental Health & Safety standards
- Awareness and reporting of unsafe conditions
- Understanding of company policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of manufacturing or continuous improvement (Lean is an asset)
- Experience with systems such as QPulse or Syspro is an asset
