ASSISTANT GROCERY MANAGER
Location: Dallas, TX, United States
Position Summary
The Assistant Grocery Manager supports the Grocery Manager in leading daily operations of the grocery department, ensuring shelves are fully stocked, merchandising standards are met, and customers receive an exceptional shopping experience. This role helps drive sales, manage inventory, and supervise associates while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient department.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations
• Assist in overseeing day-to-day grocery operations including stocking, facing, and replenishment
• Ensure shelves and displays are fully stocked, organized, and aligned with company standards
• Support execution of planograms, ad setups, and promotional displays
• Monitor backroom organization and ensure efficient product flow to the sales floor
Customer Service
• Deliver excellent customer service and assist customers in locating products
• Address and resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
• Promote store programs, featured items, and promotions
Inventory & Shrink Control
• Support ordering and inventory management to maintain strong in-stock conditions
• Ensure proper product rotation and dating standards are followed
• Minimize shrink through proper handling, storage, and monitoring practices
• Assist with inventory counts and accuracy processes
Team Leadership & Development
• Supervise grocery associates and ensure productivity expectations are met
• Assist with training, coaching, and developing team members
• Delegate tasks and follow up to ensure completion and quality execution
• Promote a positive, team-oriented work environment
Merchandising & Standards
• Maintain clean, safe, and visually appealing aisles
• Ensure pricing accuracy, proper signage, and shelf integrity
• Monitor and maintain endcaps, displays, and promotional space
• Support seasonal and high-volume merchandising initiatives
Safety & Compliance
• Follow all safety policies and procedures
• Maintain a hazard-free environment for customers and employees
• Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2+ years of grocery or retail experience preferred
• Previous leadership experience is a plus
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs frequently
• Continuous standing, walking, bending, and reaching
• Ability to work varied shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
