ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY INSTRUCTOR - EHG Location: Talladega, AL, United States   POSITION TITLE:  Assistive Technology Instructor E.H. This will be accomplished by demonstrating flexibility, a positive attitude, agility, and professional maturity.   POSITION REQUIREMENTS Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Information Technology, Business, or Deaf Education.  • Professional experience in assistive technology, computer science, computer technology, education/teaching, rehabilitation instruction, information technology training, or related fields.  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in assistive technology including computer service and maintenance.  • Must possess a Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) of INTERMEDIATE according to the AIDB SLPI evaluation upon hire and provide documentation of the same (SLPI available through AIDB).  Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Information Technology, or Deaf education.  • Minimum of two (2) years working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing consumers in the field of technology.  • Knowledge of assistive technology including a background in the use of CCTV’s, screen magnifiers, screen readers (JAWS, etc.) and Braille devices.  POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Student Instruction & Training • Core Curricula: Provide instruction to students in the area of Alabama Career Essentials (ACE).  • Software Literacy: Provide instruction to students on utilizing Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.).  • Technology Application: Must have experience in the use of assistive technology (AT) for individuals who are Deaf, hard of hearing, Blind, Low Vision and/or DeafBlind.  • Target Accommodations: Must be familiar with or become familiarized with assistive technology designated to accommodate consumers and students who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind.  • Career Preparation Curricula: Provide instruction to students in the area of Alabama Career Essentials (ACE) and Mobilizing Alabama Pathways (MAP). Software Literacy: Provide instruction to students according to their program needs on utilizing Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.), ACT WorkKeys: Graphic Literacy, NorthStar, MOS, etc.  Provide academic instructional support to college students in the area of technology. • Administration & Observation • Tracking & Documentation: Prepare and enter monthly progress reports and maintain documentation of services and attendance in Salesforce/DISCO.  • Lesson Planning: Develop Individual Program Plans (IPP).  • Evaluation & Feedback: Evaluate students and share results during Feedback meetings.  • Program Review: Participate in the weekly Program Review meetings.  • Inventory Control: Responsible for maintaining inventory of technology equipment and devices in the classroom.  • Systems Maintenance: Must be familiar with using and maintaining Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft Office software.  Outreach & Development • Resource Sharing: Provide information and resources to consumers about assistive technology.  • Special Projects: Assist with special projects related to AT services as requested.  Professional Development and Certifications • SLPI Advancement: Must obtain a SLPI score of Advanced within thirty-six (36) months of hire date.  • MOS Certification: Must demonstrate software knowledge by obtaining MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) certification within twelve (12) months of hire date.  • Core AIDB Training: Complete AIDB training on Deafness, Low Vision, DeafBlindness, and Multiple Disabilities within twelve (12) months of hire date. • Specialized Training: Must participate in professional development opportunities related to an understanding of vision, hearing, and dual sensory loss along with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  • Methodology Growth: Must be willing to attend ongoing professional development, attend workshops, conferences, and other staff development opportunities.    Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
