Extrusion Welder at AKFA Aluminium in Bowling Green

Job Summary:

The PP Extrusion Welder / PP Extruder will support the equipment installation and commissioning phase at the AKFA aluminum manufacturing facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This role focuses on executing high-quality extrusion welding on polypropylene (PP) panels, sheets, tanks, and structural plastic components under the technical direction of Gazzani / equipment supplier specialists.

Responsibilities:

• Perform extrusion welding of polypropylene (PP) sheets using PP welding rod.

• Weld tank bottoms, side walls, butt joints, and corner joints, producing sound, leak-tight seams.

• Use hand-held extrusion welders and hot-air welding equipment.

• Prepare surfaces and weld grooves; tack components; control welding temperature, welding speed, and weld bead formation.

• Repair defects and participate in tank leak testing as directed by the Italian installation team.

Experience:

• At least 2 years of practical PP sheet welding / extrusion welding experience.

• Demonstrated PP extrusion welding using welding rod, as well as hot-air welding experience.

• Experience fabricating or repairing PP tanks, vessels, or comparable sheet-plastic structures.

• Knowledge of PP surface preparation, welding temperatures, and visual quality control.

• Ability to read technical drawings and willingness to complete a practical welding test.

• Important: experience limited to socket fusion or butt fusion of plastic pipes is NOT sufficient.

• Experience in chemical-resistant tank fabrication and relevant DVS qualification (e.g., DVS 2212-1) are advantages.

Compensation

The salary for this role is USD 5,000–8,000 per month.
