Job Overview:
The LPN will provide practical nursing services supporting outpatient operations at Andrew Rader U.S. Army Health Clinic (ARHC), Fort Myer, Virginia (ARHC). The nurse will perform assigned patient-care activities, monitor and document patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, assist with diagnostic and clinical procedures, provide patient education, and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations.
Key Duties:
- Provide assigned nursing care to various patient populations.
- Observe patients, identify their care needs, and accurately document and report relevant clinical information.
- Administer prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and/or intravenous medications within established policies and scope of practice.
- Provide equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.
- Prepare patients and assist healthcare providers with diagnostic tests and specialized procedures.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures.
- Recognize urgent or emergency situations, obtain assistance from an RN or physician, and initiate directed emergency interventions.
- Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and DHA/MTF clinical requirements.
- Assist with orientation of peers and ancillary personnel regarding procedures and standards of practice.
Qualifications
Degree: Certificate.
Education: Graduate of a State Board of Nursing-approved LPN/LVN training program, or completion of equivalent military training that permits the individual to sit for the state licensure examination.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience within the last 2 years as a Practical or Vocational Nurse.
Licensure: Must hold a current, full, active, and unrestricted license as an LPN/LVN.
Certification: Must maintain applicable life-support certification required by the PWS/MTF.
Work Environment:
This position works in an outpatient Army health clinic supporting patients receiving ambulatory healthcare services. The LPN works as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team and must comply with DoD, DHA, ARHC, patient-safety, quality-assurance, infection-control, and clinical documentation requirements.
Schedule :
- 40 hours per week
- Monday–Friday
- Typical shifts: 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, or 9:00 AM–6:00 PM
- Meal break: 30 minutes to 1 hour, unpaid
- Federal holidays: Not required to work
Additional Requirements:
Situational telework is permitted only for qualifying unplanned facility closures when management determines telework can support mission requirements. Contract workers must meet applicable DHA/MTF requirements for occupational health, credentialing, safety, security/access, and infection control.
Compensation: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
