Job Description

Summary: The Allen Institute is a non-profit AI research institute based in Seattle, focused on building breakthrough AI to solve the world’s biggest problems. They are seeking a Young Investigator to work collaboratively on AI projects while pursuing an independent research agenda, particularly in areas such as embodied AI, language and vision, and AI for the common good. Responsibilities: - Dedicated Ai2 mentor: Mentorship in research, grant writing, and more - 50% collaborative work on an Ai2 project + UW projects - 50% work on your own projects Required Qualifications: - Are within one year of completing their PhD, or already have a PhD - Young Investigator applicants at PRIOR should have a strong foundation (PhD level) in one or more of the research areas listed above - Extensive work experience and publishing peer reviewed work at top scientific venues in our field including CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NeurIPS, etc - Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time - The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand - Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations - The ability to observe details at close range - Can work under deadlines Required Skills: PhD in relevant field, Computer vision expertise, Robotics knowledge Important Skills: Research publication experience, AI application for social good Nice-to-Have Skills: work under deadlines, Collaboration skills, Communication skills, Detail-oriented Benefits: Team members and their families are covered by medical, dental, vision, and an employee assistance program., Team members are able to enroll in our health savings account plan, our healthcare reimbursement arrangement plan, and our health care and dependent care flexible spending account plans., Team members are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan., Team members will receive $125 per month to assist with commuting or internet expenses and will also receive $200 per month for fitness and wellbeing expenses., Team members will also receive up to ten sick days per year, up to seven personal days per year, up to 20 vacation days per year and twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
