Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions focused on AP Biology curriculum and exam strategies
• Develop customized lesson plans that align with the AP Biology course framework and student needs
• Utilize learning technology tools to enhance interactive learning experiences
• Explain complex biological concepts such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, genetics, microbiology, and anatomy in clear, accessible terms
• Incorporate test preparation techniques to improve students’ skills in data analysis, experimental design, and scientific reasoning
• Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instructional approaches to maximize understanding and confidence
• Maintain detailed records of tutoring sessions, student performance, and areas for improvement

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise in biology topics including physiology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, anatomy, organic chemistry, and related sciences
• Proven experience teaching or tutoring science subjects at the high school or higher education level
• Strong knowledge of AP Biology curriculum standards and exam formats
• Ability to develop engaging lesson plans incorporating curriculum development principles and learning technology tools
• Excellent communication skills tailored to working with teenagers and diverse learners
• Familiarity with classroom management techniques for online instruction or in-person settings
• Proficiency with computer skills necessary for virtual tutoring platforms and digital educational resources
• Experience working with students of varying academic backgrounds and learning styles
• Knowledge of test preparation strategies for AP exams or standardized assessments in science subjects
• Background in teaching chemistry, physics (including mechanics), mathematics (algebra, geometry, calculus), or other STEM fields is a plus but not required
