Job Description
Summary: After School Matters is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that offers after-school and summer programs to high school teens. The CPL Program Associate will ensure smooth communication and processes for the teen summer internship program across partner organizations and library staff, supporting intern supervisors and facilitating various aspects of the internship experience.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Chicago Teen Services team in planning, communications, and documentation of the teen summer internship program
- Support intern supervisors through the ASM paperwork process and maintain completion records
- Manage intern application lists, communications, and enrollments for all library locations
- Support intern supervisors through the interviewing and enrollment process
- Communicate with interns, parents, and intern supervisors about all phases of the internship process
- Assist in planning and facilitating the intern orientation at the Art Institute of Chicago
- Assist with intern travel logistics for summer field trips, including permission slips, communications, and chaperoning
- Collect, maintain, and organize photos, videos, and stories, documenting the summer internships
- Work with Teen Services staff to develop weekly communications to intern supervisors
- Assist in the planning and facilitation of the Intern Showcase closing event
- Work with CPL staff to develop final reflection tools for interns and CPL staff
- Work with CPL staff to develop the final summer intern report for key program stakeholders
- Participate in Teen Services meetings and events, as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency with office productivity tools and media creation tools
- Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with youth development in either educational, social, or recreational programs
- Strong time-management skills and an ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects
- Flexible team player, willing to adapt to changes and unafraid of challenges
