Job Summary
The Sales and Trading Assistant will provide front office support to Absa’s Global Markets Sales and Trading teams in London and South Africa. The primary responsibility will be to support the offshore clients. The role focuses on trade execution support, booking accuracy, lifecycle management, and coordination across Risk, Operations, Finance, and Compliance, enabling Sales and Traders to focus on client coverage and market activity.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Capture and book trades into internal systems
Support the sales team during primary auctions and during secondary market business hours
Resolve and investigate breaks and allocations timeously done within standard times as documented by the JSE
Reconcile trades with back-office systems
Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations
Support trade settlements and confirmations
Assist with initial onboarding and ongoing maintenance of onboarded clients, working closely with sales teams covering the clients
Handling the data in Front Arena and MyMI to ensure the trade data is captured correctly to represent client volumes, sales credits across different trading books
Ensure client revenue and client feedback are accurately captured in reporting systems and Salesforce respectively
Perform trade allocations timeously in line with market standards
Work with the Sales teams to ensure that onboarding, credit and legal requests are dealt with efficiently through the relevant areas. Ensure that all client queries and desk queries are dealt with as efficiently as possible
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree in either of the following areas
Finance, Financial Mathematics, Mathematics, Statistics, Accounting or Economics
Postgraduate would be an advantage
CFA / FRM would be an advantage.
At least 3 years of relevant experience
Competencies:
Solid understanding of most / all asset classes (Equity, Commodity, Fixed Income, FX, Credit and MM)
Proficiency in Excel (often advanced)
Familiarity with Absa trading and risk system, such as Front Arena
Familiarity with trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg)
Strong numerical and analytical ability
Multi tasking

Education
Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Physical, Mathematical, Computer and Life Sciences (Required)
