Job Description
Summary: 3M is a global company that values collaboration and innovation. The Systems Engineer role involves developing software integrations, implementing solutions on manufacturing lines, and driving continuous improvement projects to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Developing integrations for software, data, and analytics systems in a team environment
- Implement 3M software solutions and data collection historians on manufacturing lines
- Support computer network concepts/troubleshooting
- Interact with plant engineering, process engineers and controls engineer and technologists to assess the need for smart manufacturing solutions
- Design, Implement, and Integrate PLC upgrades on manufacturing lines
- Proactively communicates project direction and status to appropriate personnel
- Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost
- Driving cost and productivity improvements by leading Continuous Improvement projects with a variety of toolsets, including standard work development, tier reviews and kaizens
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree or higher in Software Engineering, Control Systems, Software Development or Computer Science (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Experience in one or more of the following: chemical operations, extrusion, coating and converting
- Passion for SMART Manufacturing and Data Automation
- Workflow Software integration, Power BI reporting, and understanding of PLC hardware architecture and Ladder Logic
- Database skills with SQL scripts and stored procedures
- Self-starter, results driven behaviors with strong oral and written communications skills
