Job Description
Summary: 3M is a global company where you can collaborate with innovative people. The Manufacturing Process Engineer role involves providing technical leadership and driving improvement initiatives in automated converting and packaging processes to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
Responsibilities:
- Providing technical leadership of assigned areas and function as subject matter expert in automated converting and packaging processes for the plant
- Being responsible for initiating and conducting broadly defined technical tasks and programs related to safety improvement, process improvement, cost reduction and other improvement initiatives. This includes driving capital investments, new product introductions and new technologies to increase manufacturing capability
- Establishing and cultivating a network of support (EHS, laboratory, quality, plant engineering, business supply chain, engineering, etc..) to facilitate completion of assignments and performance of assigned areas
- Utilizing all data resources available to identify and drive the largest opportunities for assigned areas
- Enhance plant PPU in automated converting to improve and sustain production of high-quality products and Overall Equipment Effectiveness
- Managing documentation to include work instructions, process standards, technical documents, etc
- Serve as a coach/mentor for technical resources
- Willingness to be on call to support 24/7 manufacturing operations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- One (1) year of professional/intern experience as a process/manufacturing engineer, project engineer, or reliability engineer in a private, public, government or military environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
- Experience with automated, high throughput processes
- Experience with high speed automated case packing/palletizing processes
- Demonstrated use of skills and knowledge of equipment, systems, materials, processes, and procedures to solve manufacturing problems
- Experience with statistical analysis of process data and establishing process control standards
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and strong influencing skills for working in dynamic plant environment
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and across multiple disciplines
