Job Description
Summary: 3M is a global company known for its innovative solutions and collaborative environment. They are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead improvements in safety, quality, service, and cost related to products and processes, while implementing high-impact projects and collaborating with various teams.
Responsibilities:
- Leading assigned and self-directed improvements for Safety, Quality, Service and Cost related to assigned products and processes
- Implementing high impact projects that relate to our customer and site’s needs
- Support of a high impact technical chemical operation
- Willingness to be provide support, as needed, during off-shift and weekend hours
- Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products and processes which have significant impact potential
- Suggest changes and future direction of assigned products and processes
- Major stakeholder in assigned product and process project planning
- Establish a network of support for assigned products and processes (lab, quality, manufacturing operations, etc..) to facilitate completion of assignments
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
- One (1) year of engineering experience in a chemical operations environment in a private, public, government or military environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
- Three (3) years of engineering experience in a chemical operations environment
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university
- Excellent mechanical, chemical and/or electrical aptitude and problem-solving skills; practical and hands-on, with analytical comprehension and data driven decision making
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma, Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Analysis Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans
- Ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams from multiple locations and divisions
- Ability to navigate through ambiguity and change
- Ability to communicate and function effectively with production through senior leadership teams
- Operate with a One Winning Team mindset
- Effectively implement continuous improvement efforts with a sense of urgency
