Job Description
Sr. Product Manager - Partnerships (Yahoo Mail)
Location: United States of America
Yahoo Mail is the ultimate consumer inbox with hundreds of millions of users. It’s the best way to access your email and stay organized from a computer, phone or tablet. With its beautiful design and lightning fast speed, Yahoo Mail makes reading, organizing, and sending emails easier than ever.
Yahoo Mail is one of the world's largest consumer email platforms, serving hundreds of millions of users globally across web, iOS, Android, and other client surfaces.
Beyond serving individual users, Yahoo Mail is a trusted platform for a diverse ecosystem of partners. Some are large enterprises and consumer brands who rely on Yahoo Mail to deliver and operate email experiences for their own customers at global scale. Others consume specific Yahoo Mail APIs, capabilities, or services, including emerging access patterns such as MCP, to enrich their own products and increasingly their AI agents. Still others are platform customers who build on top of our infrastructure in more targeted ways. Across all of these models, our partner ecosystem is central to how Yahoo Mail extends its reach and value, and managing those relationships well, including protecting the integrity of our platform from abuse, is critical to the long-term health of the product and the business.
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager, Partnerships, to lead the product strategy and execution for Yahoo Mail's external partnerships and partner integration program. This role owns the relationships, product surfaces, and integration capabilities that serve our full partner ecosystem. That includes large-scale partners who operate Yahoo Mail experiences for their own customers, partners who consume our APIs, MCP endpoints, and capabilities to enhance their own products and AI agents, platform customers who build on top of our infrastructure, and the broader program enabling industry partners and developers to integrate with Mail.
This is a senior, highly cross-functional role that works deeply with experience-focused product managers, client and platform engineering teams, business development, legal, and central trust and safety teams. You will be responsible for ensuring that partner integrations are secure, reliable, and commercially aligned, while remaining adaptable as the Yahoo Mail product and platform evolve.
A critical dimension of this role is acting as the connective tissue between external partners and Yahoo Mail's internal product and engineering organization. You will translate partner needs into product direction, advocate for partner requirements where they align with our strategy, and help shape the integration patterns and tooling that make our partner program scalable. This work requires strong commercial judgment, excellent stakeholder management, and comfort operating in environments where product, business, and contractual considerations intersect.
Equally critical is deep technical understanding. This is not about expertise in any single technology. It is about the ability to translate partner and business requirements into technical requirements, to understand how Yahoo Mail's platform works at a system level, and to reason in both directions about how our platform shapes what is feasible for partners and how partner requirements should influence the platform. The right person will be able to sit in a room with engineering and confidently discuss tradeoffs, identify where a partner ask creates friction with our architecture, and recognize when a small platform change unlocks meaningful partner value.
Trust and abuse prevention are inseparable from this work. Every partner integration, whether a hosted experience, a traditional API, or an MCP endpoint consumed by an AI agent, is a potential vector for abuse if not designed thoughtfully. APIs can be abused, credentials can be misused, and agent-driven access introduces new categories of risk including prompt injection, agent-to-agent abuse, and large-scale automated misuse on behalf of users. The person in this role is expected to treat anti-abuse as a first-class product concern, working closely with trust and safety, security, and engineering to ensure that the partner program remains a source of value rather than risk for our users and our platform.
What You'll Do
Own the product vision and roadmap for Yahoo Mail's partner integrations and partner-facing capabilities, across web, iOS, Android, and emerging surfaces.
Build and maintain strong relationships across our partner ecosystem, including partners who operate Yahoo Mail experiences for their customers, partners consuming our APIs and MCP endpoints, and platform customers building on our infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and a high-quality experience for both partners and end users.
Define and shape the strategic roadmap for the partner integration program, including the patterns, APIs, MCP surfaces, developer tooling, and shared capabilities that determine how partners and their AI agents onboard, integrate, and operate over time across a range of integration models.
Be the voice of partners within Yahoo Mail, advocating for their needs and ensuring requirements are reflected appropriately in product decisions and roadmaps, while also being a strong voice for protecting the platform from abuse and misuse.
Partner closely with experience product managers and client and platform engineering teams to align on features, capabilities, and technical direction that affect partner integrations.
Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning product, engineering, design, business development, legal, and trust and safety, ensuring cohesive end-to-end execution.
Work closely with trust and safety, security, and engineering to design partner-facing surfaces that are resilient to abuse, including credential misuse, automated abuse, prompt injection, and emerging agent-driven attack patterns.
Identify new partnership opportunities aligned with Yahoo Mail's strategic goals, and lead evaluation, scoping, and integration for selected opportunities.
Define and track success metrics for the partnership program and individual partner relationships, including measures of integration health and abuse posture, using data to drive prioritization and inform investment decisions.
Work with partners and the internal analytics team to define reporting requirements and build out automated reporting views that scale across the partner base.
Represent Yahoo Mail in partner-facing and executive-level discussions related to partnership strategy, integration approach, commercial considerations, and tradeoffs.
What We're Looking For
Experience: 5+ years of product management experience, with significant ownership of partnerships, platforms, or large-scale consumer products. Direct experience with email, messaging, or other communication platforms is a strong plus, given the unique technical, operational, and trust challenges in this space.
Technical Translation: Demonstrated ability to translate partner and business requirements into technical requirements, and to reason about how platform architecture shapes what is feasible for partners and vice versa. This is not about depth in a specific technology stack. It is about systems thinking, technical fluency across integration patterns, APIs, MCP and other agent-oriented access models, authentication and identity flows, and the ability to engage as a credible peer with engineering on architectural tradeoffs.
Trust and Abuse Prevention: Genuine instinct for how partner-facing surfaces can be abused, from credential and rate-limit abuse on traditional APIs through to emerging risks introduced by AI agents, including prompt injection, agent-to-agent abuse, and large-scale automated misuse. Comfort partnering with trust and safety, security, and engineering to design integration surfaces that are commercially attractive and operationally safe.
Partnership Management: Proven ability to build and manage relationships with external partners at scale, understanding their business needs and aligning them with product capabilities, while protecting the long-term health of the platform.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives that span product, engineering, business development, and legal, with multiple external dependencies and contractual considerations. Ability to drive alignment and maintain forward momentum in complex stakeholder environments.
Product Judgment: Strong instincts for prioritization, sequencing, and tradeoffs, with the ability to translate partner needs into product features and roadmaps that deliver value to end users while remaining sustainable for Yahoo Mail.
Commercial Awareness: Comfort operating in environments where product, business, and contractual considerations intersect, and the ability to weigh commercial impact alongside user experience and platform health.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical, organizational, and commercial concepts to both partner and internal audiences, including senior leadership.
Analytical Ability: Strong analytical skills to assess partnership performance, identify opportunities, and make data-driven decisions across a diverse partner base.
Mission & Product Mindset: A genuine interest in building products that empower people in their day-to-day lives, with an appreciation for email as a vital, enduring communications tool that continues to have real-world impact at global scale.
