Inspector I

Summary: WSP is a leading engineering and professional services firm dedicated to serving local communities. They are seeking an Inspector I to provide daily site inspections, ensure compliance with construction plans, and maintain project records as part of their Construction Management Team. Responsibilities: - Provide daily site inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications and codes, and maintain up-to-date project records and test reports - Review construction quantities and verify for the installed quantity - Perform Quality Assurance on the installed materials - Act as the Owner’s agent with regards to the construction process - Review progression of work to monitor and generally reconcile against construction schedule - Read/Understand contractor submittals, request for information (RFI), change order requests, and as-built drawings and comments - Communicate conditions and field conflicts/changes to Resident Inspector - Interface with client and the contractor, while working with, and taking direction from the Resident Inspector - Keep detailed records of contractor’s performance and progress - Oversee/Track the technical submittal, shop drawing review and RFI process, with support of design lead - Prepare daily construction log for all activities and project progress using the client’s software application/tool - Assist the Resident Inspector with compiling data, for monthly reports - Develop construction punch list - Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct, and related policies and procedures - Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs Required Qualifications: - High-School Diploma - 0-2 years of construction inspection experience - Experience in the inspection of underground water/sewer pipeline construction or of progressively responsible experience in maintenance, construction, or sub-professional engineering work - Experience should include any combination of water/sewer construction, sewer main lining, sewer manhole lining, replacement by excavation and pipe bursting - Highly familiar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, processes, methods and techniques - Highly familiar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives - Solid knowledge in MS Office including Excel, Word and Outlook - Solid knowledge of Oracle Contract Management (CM-14)/Oracle Unifier or e-Builder - Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol, and harassment policies - Valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications: - Erosion and Sediment Control Yellow Card Certification - MDA SHA Flagger Certification - MDE Water Sampling Certification - 2 years experience as a geotechnician - 2 years experience on a survey crew - Confined space entry certification - ACI certification - Water Distribution System Operators Certificate - MDOT Certified Traffic Control Inspector Required Skills: Construction Inspection, Water/Sewer Construction, Construction Codes Compliance Important Skills: MS Office, Oracle Contract Management Nice-to-Have Skills: Erosion, Sediment Control Certification, MDA SHA Flagger Certification, MDE Water Sampling Certification, Confined Space Entry Certification, ACI Certification, Water Distribution Certificate, Traffic Control Inspector Certification Benefits: Coverage related to medical, dental, vision, disability, and life, Retirement savings, Paid sick leave, Paid vacation (or other personal time), Paid parental leave, Paid time off for purposes of bereavement, voting, and/or attendance at naturalization proceedings
