We are looking for a visionary, empathetic and operationally focused VP of People to lead our People department and champion our most important asset: our talent. As a member of the leadership team, you will be a champion and driver of company culture, ensure that our organizational structure and talent strategy best support our business goals, and drive HR operational excellence to help our company operate efficiently and effectively.
The ideal candidate isn’t just an HR expert – they are a strategic partner who understands how a high-performing culture drives results. You will oversee everything from talent acquisition and total rewards to HR operations and organizational development.
This is an incredible opportunity to come work for a truly innovative global aviation company in the heart of the Bay Area! This is a hybrid work opportunity, which means working onsite at our headquarters at least 3 days per week, with flexibility for the remainder of the days. This position reports directly to the CEO.
Core responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership & Partnership: Partner with the leadership team to align people strategies with business objectives. Lead organizational design and workforce planning to support our company on our path to commercialization. You are comfortable being a voice at the table, navigating and communicating complex situations directly and with empathy. You can support and coach at all levels within the organization.
Culture & Engagement: With the CEO, be one of the biggest champions of our culture. Ensure our culture is aligned to our vision, mission and values. Weave our values and leadership competencies into the daily fabric of our company and find ways to strengthen our culture. Measure employee engagement, well-being, and safety, and drive programs to help make Wisk a great place to work.
Total Rewards: Ensure Wisk has competitive compensation structures, benefits packages, and fringe programs that support our employees and company. Sophisticated understanding of compensation structures, executive compensation, and the philosophy of “pay-for-performance”
Talent Acquisition: Oversee the recruiting efforts for full-time employees, our contingent workforce, and our summer intern program. Partner with the Marketing team to amplify our brand to attract top-tier, diverse talent in a competitive market.
Performance Management: Oversee our performance management process, which includes goal setting, annual performance reviews, mid-year check-ins, and continuous feedback.
HR Operations & Systems: Oversee the full employee lifecycle, as well as orientation, immigration, our intern program, and more. Ensure the People team has documented processes for all operational aspects for running the function and supporting the organization, and HR systems and tools that enable us to do our best work and provide necessary reporting. Additionally, oversee the tech stack for the People Team (e.g. Workday) and its continuous design and development.
Learning & Development: Oversee the L&D efforts, which include an LMS that houses development and mandatory compliance courses. Provide leadership coaching and professional development resources, and establish programs that support our employees’ growth and development
Policies, Compliance & Risk: Lead the development and implementation of all people policies. Develop processes to scale along with the growth of the company. Ensure the company remains compliant with all labor laws and regulations while managing employee relations with maturity and fairness.
Employee Relations: Support our HR Business Partners with navigating employee relations issues, providing guidance and support. Ensure issues are managed objectively and thoroughly.
Qualifications:
Minimum 15 years of experience with at least 5 years in a Senior Leadership role. Start-up experience is a bonus
Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Masters’s or SHRM-SCP/SPHR certification is a plus.
Global HR experience is a stong plus
Data-Driven: use people analytics to identify trends, measure engagement and more.
Thrive in a fast-paced environment with the calm and confidence to juggle multiple projects at once.
Emotional intelligence: you possess a high degree of empathy and intuition, and the ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics with confidentiality and calm.
Resilience: You consider yourself to be strong, capable, and able to bounce back from the inherent challenges of leading a People function.
Executive Partnering: have been an HRBP for the most senior levels in a company. Can be a teammate, while also being an effective Business Partner.
Strong Communicator: Must be a proactive, empathetic, and clear communicator. Lead communications with parent company (Boeing) as needed.
Must be adept with using Google Suite (Slides, Sheets, and Docs)
Pay range the company expects to pay: $306,000 - $383,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
