Job Description
Summary: Wire 3 is dedicated to providing affordable, high-speed, and high-bandwidth internet services to households in local communities. The Utility Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the contractor locate process to ensure seamless project execution, managing work flow from ticket submission to the start of construction, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and Manage Locate Tickets: Track and oversee contractor locate tickets within the 811 system, ensuring timely processing and adherence to regulatory requirements
- Data Management: Use Notion to accurately input, track, and report on located segments, maintaining up-to-date records for internal and external use
- Vendor and Partner Coordination: Develop and maintain strong relationships with locating providers and local municipality locators to ensure smooth operations and prompt issue resolution
- Internal Locates Program: Oversee and manage Wire 3’s internal private locates program, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in locating privately-owned infrastructure
- Locate Release Tracking: Continuously monitor the 811 system for locate releases, promptly addressing any delays or discrepancies to prevent project disruptions
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all locating activities meet legal standards and company policies, conducting regular audits to maintain high-quality outcomes
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and other departments to align locate operations with broader project timelines and goals
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues related to locate requests or discrepancies in ticket information
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate reports on locate activity trends, identifying potential areas for process improvement and operational efficiency
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Familiarity with underground construction practices, the universal underground utility color code system, and associated locating responsibilities
- Proficient in using systems like project management tools, with the ability to generate and interpret reports
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with contractors, municipalities, and internal teams
- Ability to monitor and track multiple locate tickets with precision, ensuring compliance and avoiding delays
- Analytical mindset to address and resolve issues related to locating activities efficiently
- Demonstrated ability to manage workflows, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of local, state, and federal regulations related to underground locating and construction practices
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or training in related fields is a plus
- Proven experience in OSP (Outside Plant) and ISP (Inside Plant) fields, with a strong understanding of construction and telecommunication processes
- Hands-on experience with the 811 system, including processing locate requests and interpreting ticket information
- Must live in South Carolina
- Some work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment
- This position sometimes operates in an outdoor environment and is exposed to outside weather conditions including rain, humidity, elevated temperatures, and high wind
- The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels
