General Summary Of Duties:
Manage the labor relations function including, contract administration, discipline, counseling and turnover. Act as management's contact with various bargaining unit and community organizations. Assist with the development, implementation, and administration of all Human Resources functions including recruitment, employment, training and development, benefit administration and employee services.
Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)
Manage the property's labor relations activities by administering collective bargaining unit contracts and ensuring compliance.
Ensure compliance with all State/Federal employment laws as well as regulations and court rulings which pertain to Human
Resources by reviewing current management practices, implementing new procedures and communicating verbally and in writing any new requirements.
Provide assistance, guidance and counsel to management personnel, supervisors, and line employees in order to maximize the quality and professionalism of the staff by listening and interpreting concerns and seeking solutions.
Counsel and/or recommend discipline for employees, as needed, through clear, calm, and direct oral/written communication, in accordance with guidelines established by the Corporation, property or contract.
Document and report all exceptions/variations/deviations to operating procedures, standard policy, or legal regulations.
Supervise, coordinate, and motivate the activities of the human resources department personnel. Train and instruct, via written/verbal directions, in the details of work assignments. Monitor project process/progress, observe performance, encourage improvement and verify accuracy.

Ability to listen effectively, read, write, speak, and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions, to provide clear direction/guidance to subordinates/management and to communicate with other employees.
Ability to access and input information using a moderately complex computer system.
Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to deal with internal/external "customers," some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve problems and concerns.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction, instruction and guidance to staff. Assign and instruct all personnel in details of work. Observe performance and encourage improvement. Monitor workload and make staffing adjustments accordingly.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in case of emergency situations and to read caution and/or safety notices.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language to understand verbal/written job requests from supervisors, internal and external customers.
Remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy hotel activity, serving as a role model for other employees.
Resolve complications and complaints by conducting thorough research of the situation and the most effective solutions.
Make decisions and take action based on previous experience & judgment, sometimes revising procedures to accommodate unusual situations.
Ability to stand, move and work throughout office area, including walking (up to 1 mile), climbing stairs, and/or sitting at desk work station for the duration of the shift.
Ability to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 25 lbs. on an intermittent basis, and sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including: computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment, and multi-line telephone.
Ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision/multiple interruptions, exercise judgement and implement control over the performance of subordinates.
Mathematical skills necessary to analyze reports and prepare forecasts and budgets.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to travel to training sessions, meetings, and hearings.
Knowledge of human resources practices and procedures including: federal/state labor laws, OSHA, FLSA and collective bargaining unit agreements.
Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
additionalInformation
Experience Requirements
3 to 5 years of experienceat a management or senior administrative level with an emphasis on employee/labor relations.
3 to 5 years working in a union environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resource Management or related field; or equivalent level of experience, training and education.
Desirables:
Knowledge of immigration laws and processes.
SHRM Certified professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential.
Extensive knowledge of applicable state, federal employment and labor relations laws and governmental compliance requirements.
