Employee Connection Specialist, Tokyo, Japan
Your New Role
Reporting to the APAC Employee Connection Manager, the Employee Connection Specialist is part of the P&C Services’ Employee Connection team in APAC. The P&C Services team designs and runs the infrastructure to deliver outstanding employee services and experience in Warner Bros. Discovery.
This role is based in Tokyo, Japan, and will be a key player, regularly interacting with employees to support and address their HR needs. Supports and executes standardized processes which are repeatable in nature including the employee on and off-boarding, benefits, mobility, operations, and compliance in Japan. The hire will be expected to be highly independent and proactive in identifying and implementing positive changes and improvements to scale a great employee experience aligned with our culture.
*The main office will be at Toranomon Hills, but you will also be expected to work at the Toshimaen office.
Your Role Accountabilities
Respond to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Perform HR transactions accurately in Workday and other relevant HR systems.
Support organizational changes, including reorganizations and position management.
Prepare and validate payroll-related information to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Manage end-to-end onboarding and offboarding processes.
Execute standardized, repeatable HR processes with a high level of accuracy.
Administer employee benefits and address benefits-related inquiries and issues.
Monitor and track employee probation periods, ensuring timely actions.
Support reporting requirements and audit activities.
Provide employment verification and related documentation.
Proactively identify potential issues and escalate unresolved matters to Tier 2 or appropriate teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources services and administration within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Native-level Japanese proficiency with full professional fluency in English.
Strong practical understanding of Japanese labour laws—including employment contracts, working conditions, leave policies, and compliance—with the ability to apply them across employee lifecycle processes and queries.
Proven experience working with contact center technologies, including case management/tracking systems and HR Information Systems (HRIS); knowledge of Workday and ServiceNow is preferred.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including O365 and SharePoint.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, partner, negotiate, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to thrive in a changing environment.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, including managing complex or challenging customer interactions.
Passionate about delivering excellent employee/customer experience.
