Job Description
Summary: Vicor is a company specializing in power components and solutions, and they are seeking an Associate Product Development Engineer to join their team. This entry-level position involves defining new power components, conducting verification testing, and supporting customer systems while providing opportunities for innovation and advancement in product development engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Verifying new power component functionality and performance at a system level
- Creation, definition and verification of tools for facilitating customer designs
- Designing, simulating, prototyping, testing, and optimizing systems using Vicor power components
- Evaluating new products in support of datasheet development
- Development of reference designs and evaluation printed circuit boards
- New products definition
- Troubleshooting, optimizing and supporting customer systems
- Working as part of a team on various projects
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Has previous CO-OP/Internship experience with AC-DC, DC-DC power supplies or power components
- Basic understanding of analog design and an analytical approach to engineering
- Troubleshooting skills with basic power electronics systems
- Bench testing skills, comfortable with lab equipment used in the characterization and design of power supplies and systems (oscilloscopes, DMMs, Network Analyzers, EMI analyzers, loads, sources, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable presenting at a technical level
- Familiarity with simulation tools (LTSpice, Simetrix, OrCAD, Mathcad, MATLAB, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with CAD and office tools (Altium, Cadence, Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.) a plus, if not, a willingness to learn and adopt the use of software tools in support of job function
