Job Description
Summary: Utah Valley University offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on student success at an institution committed to access and academic excellence. As the Academic Affairs - Student Success Program Manager, you will play a central role in shaping initiatives that strengthen the student experience and advance the university's strategic priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of strategic initiatives, including Our Better Selves for a Better America, that enhance Academic Affairs - Student Success engagement and outcomes
- Develops work plans with defined timelines and measurable outcomes, including the number of participants, student engagement, and involvement of internal and external partners
- Collaborates with university departments, faculty, and community partners to coordinate facilitated dialogues and community-facing programming, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and student success priorities
- Seeks opportunities to collaborate with nonprofit agencies to organize co-sponsored events both on the UVU campus and in the broader community
- Develops and prepares grant proposals for Academic Affairs - Student Success priorities
- Identifies external funding opportunities, collaborates with internal stakeholders to gather required information, and ensures proposals meet university, state, and federal guidelines
- Supports grant reporting and compliance activities as needed
- Builds and sustains strategic partnerships with campus directors, academic leaders, nonprofit agencies, and external organizations to bring co-sponsored events, programs, speakers, and training opportunities to campus in support of student success
- Coordinates joint initiatives by securing community participation in facilitated dialogues, cultivating relationships with mission-aligned organizations, and collecting participant feedback to inform continuous improvement
- Identifies and builds relationships with current and potential donors, connecting philanthropic interests to Academic Affairs initiatives and student success priorities
- Oversees the inflow and expenditure of project funds to ensure strict compliance with UVU policies, as well as state and federal laws
- Coordinates financial activities, monitors budgets, and ensures expenditures align with applicable regulations, policies, and program objectives
- Conducts need assessments and utilizes internal and external data to inform and prioritize program measures
- Contributes to the assessment of program outcomes, structures, and the student academic experience
- Evaluates program strengths and risks, and implements improvement plans to enhance effectiveness and outcomes
- Performs other job-related duties, as assigned, in support of Academic Affairs - Student Success goals
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related field plus two years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling at least six years
- Knowledge of project management for large, extended, and multiple objective projects
- Knowledge of office methods, techniques, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge of current trends and strategies used in support of the success of academic affairs
- Knowledge of and commitment to UVU's mission and strategic directions
- Strong leadership, organization, interpersonal communication (oral and written), problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills
- Exceptional skill in organizing and coordinating large projects
- Excellent skills in the use of computers and computer software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, databases, and presentations, with a preference for skills in Microsoft 365 applications
- Demonstrated skill in strategic planning, data analysis, and assessment
- Demonstrated skill in program development and facilitation
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
- Ability to demonstrate relationship caretaking and group facilitation techniques
- Ability to build professional relationships with internal employees and external partners
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in a related field
