Pediatric Research Intern - Summer 2026

Summary: UPMC is a leading healthcare provider in pediatric research, located in Pittsburgh. They are seeking undergraduate students for a paid summer internship program focused on pediatric research, where participants will engage in various biomedical research activities under the supervision of experienced researchers. Responsibilities: - Organize experimental tests relevant to the assigned project - Coordinate with animal research technicians and other lab personnel as required - Perform various experimental tests according to prescribed research protocol - Evaluate test results and conduct data analysis and statistical testing as instructed - Record data and relevant information in laboratory notebooks or in computer files - Perform and record quality controls instituted to ensure test validity, (i.e calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment) - Attend scheduled seminars, meetings and other events assigned by the principal investigator - Adhere to the standards of responsible conduct in research - Complete a final project of the work performed which is required for successful completing of the project Required Qualifications: - Active enrollment in a degree-granting program with an institution of higher learning - Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher - Successfully submit the Application Questionnaire and SRIP Written Evaluation - Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Status - Pre-Employment Health Assessment - Required Clearances (Act 33 / 34 / 73) Preferred Qualifications: - Science based programs are preferred - Undergrad coursework of two semesters of education prior to the start of the internship - Coursework of at least one semester of education remaining upon completing of the internship - Acceptance into an advanced degree program upon completion of the internship Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer Benefits: Housing is provided for those that need it.
