Position Summary
The Regulatory Affairs & Compliance Specialist supports regulatory compliance programs for a chemical distribution company serving the industrial, food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. This role is responsible for regulatory documentation, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management, chemical regulatory compliance, and monitoring changes in federal and state regulations including OSHA, EPA, TSCA, and GHS standards.
This position works closely with operations, sales, quality, and leadership teams to ensure regulatory compliance, support audits, and maintain accurate product regulatory documentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Documentation & Compliance
- Develop, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and regulatory documentation
- Support OSHA Hazard Communication and GHS labeling compliance
- Assist with EPA, TSCA, and chemical regulatory requirements
- Establish regulatory documentation for new product codes
- Maintain chemical product regulatory records and compliance documentation
- Recommend updates to company policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance
Regulatory Monitoring & Intelligence
- Monitor changes to chemical regulatory requirements
- Interpret new regulations and assess their impact on company operations
- Provide regulatory guidance to leadership and cross-functional teams
- Track regulatory activities within the chemical industry
Audit Support & Risk Management
- Support preparation for government regulatory audits
- Assist with responses to regulatory findings
- Identify regulatory risks and recommend mitigation strategies
Training & Internal Support
- Train employees on regulatory compliance policies and procedures
- Educate teams on changes in chemical regulatory requirements
- Serve as a regulatory resource for internal departments
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred experience includes:
- Experience in chemical regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with OSHA Hazard Communication, GHS, EPA, and TSCA
- Experience creating or maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Knowledge of chemical distribution or manufacturing regulations
Skills:
- Strong analytical and regulatory research skills
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities
- Ability to interpret technical regulatory requirements
- Strong communication and training abilities
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
Work Schedule
Monday – Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with a 1-hour lunch
Occasional weekends may be required based on business needs.
