Job Description
Summary: The University of Southern California (USC) is a prestigious institution located in downtown Los Angeles, and they are seeking a Research Lab Technician I to support their aging and Alzheimer's disease research. This role involves maintaining experimental rodent models, assisting laboratory personnel, and performing standard laboratory techniques under supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Perform standard laboratory techniques, after training, including immunohistochemistry, physiological assessment, microscopy, PCR, and Western blotting
- Assist post-docs and graduate students in executing protocols for the phenotypic characterization of strains
- Prepare experimental materials using laboratory protocols and safety guidelines
- Set up and operate standard laboratory equipment
- Maintain accurate records of procedures used to conduct basic experiments. Perform routine analysis and provide basic interpretations
- Maintain laboratory environment in orderly, operable condition
- Learn basic laboratory safety and, if appropriate, basic radiation or bloodborne pathogen safety under the direction of the USC Safety Office and more experienced laboratory staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: High school or equivalent, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
- Minimum Experience: 6 - 12 months, Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
- Minimum Field of Expertise: Ability to follow detailed instructions, oral and written

Preferred Qualifications:

- Minimum Experience: 1+ years, Combined education/experience as a substitute for the minimum experience
- Minimum Field of Expertise: Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols. Knowledge of computer analysis techniques and the ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data
