Job Description
Summary: The University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science is seeking a Payroll Coordinator to join the Dean's Office within the A. James Clark School of Engineering. The role involves the accurate processing of payroll appointments and benefits for various staff and faculty, as well as maintaining personnel records and providing customer service to employees.
Responsibilities:
- Administering bi-weekly payroll for engineering units
- Coordinating the on-boarding, off-boarding, and benefits processes for unit employees
- Running routine employee and appointment reports to continuously monitor activities and address ad-hoc requests
- Maintaining accurate personnel records while adhering to all University, State, and Federal regulations and record retention policies
- Establishing working relationships with payroll and human resource departments on campus
- Providing strong customer service to employees by answering their questions and resolving any concerns
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- One (1) year of professional payroll experience
- Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures, and federal, state, and other applicable payroll related laws, rules, regulations, and ordinances
- Knowledge of payroll functions
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
- Ability to analyze situations and determine the best recourse for response
