Job Description
Summary: The University of Illinois Chicago is a prominent urban public research university dedicated to cutting-edge research and student success. They are seeking a Visiting Research Associate I to conduct research, manage data, and support program activities within the Cancer Center.
Responsibilities:
- Perform surveys, interviews, observations or uses other methods according to established research protocols
- Prepare data for analysis and execute details of studies. Perform analysis and document results
- May conduct literature searches
- Order study supplies and maintain inventories
- Maintain detailed records of results and prepare written reports
- Maintain and process required paperwork
- Coordinate research and program activities, including participant recruitment and eligibility screening, scheduling clinical appointments, and organizing meetings and logistics to support study and program operations
- Assist with regulatory compliance and data management, including assisting with IRB submissions, progress reports, and protocol updates, while maintaining program data, reports, and documentation
- Collaborate with patients, community partners, and clinical teams to support quality improvement initiatives, including conducting hereditary cancer risk assessments, genetic counseling assistance, contributing to literature reviews, and ensuring professional, patient-centered interactions
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in social science or related field required
- Knowledge of fundamental research concepts, practices and procedures
- Entry level knowledge of research methods
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook
- Ability to travel to different Mile Square Health Center locations
- Ability to work independently; excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Strong data management skills and attention to detail
