Job Description
Summary: UL Solutions is a global leader in applied safety science, and they are seeking an Engineer for medium and high voltage electrical testing and commissioning activities. The role involves on-site testing, preparing test equipment, executing procedures, and supporting senior engineers during complex operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with medium and high voltage field testing and commissioning
- Set up, operate, and dismantle field test equipment, power supplies, grounding systems, and support hardware
- Perform pre-test inspections, job briefings, and safety checks in accordance with UL procedures
- Execute assigned test steps under the direction of senior engineers or lead technicians
- Accurately collect, record, and document field test data and observations
- Travel to customer sites and work flexible schedules based on testing windows and project needs
- Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, and security requirements
- Assist with test planning by reviewing drawings, specifications, and test procedures
- Support equipment logistics, mobilization, and demobilization activities
- Perform basic troubleshooting of test setups and field connections
- Assist with preparation of field reports and technical summaries
- Maintain test equipment, tools, and vehicles in safe working condition
- Participate in training, cross-training, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Interface professionally with clients, site personnel, and subcontractors
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety principles
- Willingness to perform hands-on field work in outdoor and industrial environments
- Ability to travel regularly and work flexible schedules based on project needs
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow written procedures and verbal instructions
- Effective communication skills for working with team members and clients
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel 75%+ to New Jersey
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in electrical testing, utilities, substations, or power systems is preferred but not required
- OSHA 10/30 or equivalent safety training preferred
