U.S. Bank is seeking a Software Engineer who will contribute toward the success of our technology initiatives in our digital transformation journey.
U.S. Bank is seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in distributed databases to support our platform modernization and cloud transformation initiatives. This role will focus on building scalable CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure, and ensuring high availability and performance for distributed database systems such as YugabyteDB and Cassandra.
Key Responsibilities:
Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for database operations, deployments, and system integrations
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and Ansible to provision and manage environments
Drive automation across build, deployment, and monitoring processes to improve efficiency and reliability
Configure and maintain monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) to track system health and performance
Lead incident management efforts, including troubleshooting production issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures
Evaluate and benchmark databases to determine the best fit for specific use cases (e.g., YugabyteDB, Cassandra)
Design, deploy, and manage highly available and scalable distributed database clusters
Optimize data models and queries to ensure performance in distributed environments
Develop and execute backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies
Implement resilience and high-availability practices to ensure data integrity and system reliability
Establish observability frameworks with end-to-end dashboards and alerting mechanisms
Ensure replication and consistency strategies align with business and application requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
Five to six years of relevant experience
Required Qualifications:
Experience with CI/CD tools and pipeline development (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible or similar)
Strong experience working with distributed databases such as YugabyteDB, Cassandra, or similar NoSQL platforms
Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
Solid understanding of system reliability, scalability, and high-availability architectures
Experience troubleshooting production issues and performing root cause analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience benchmarking distributed database platforms (e.g., YBA, NoSQLBench)
Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and Kubernetes-based deployments
Knowledge of resilience engineering and chaos testing practices
Location Expectations:
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $119,765.00 - $140,900.00
