In this role, you will be the go-to expert for keeping our data systems fast, reliable, and integrated. You will be responsible for building and maintaining robust ETL pipelines that move data from multiple operational AWS PostgreSQL databases into our Snowflake data warehouse, while proactively auditing and tuning SQL queries across our platform to ensure seamless, high-volume message deployment. Diagnose complex bottlenecks, rewrite sub-optimal queries, optimize indexes, and tune database configurations to ensure peak platform speeds. - Database Operations & Maintenance: Oversee the day-to-day health, backup strategies, security compliance, and scaling of our PostgreSQL (AWS RDS/Aurora) and Snowflake environments. - Query Best Practices & Collaboration: Partner with Software Engineers to review database schemas and queries before they hit production, acting as a trusted advisor on SQL best practices. - Troubleshooting & Optimization: Serve as the senior escalation point for database performance issues, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability for our core SMS services. QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS - 5+ years of experience in Database Administration, Database Engineering, or a heavily database-focused Data Engineering role. - PostgreSQL Expertise: Deep hands-on experience managing and tuning PostgreSQL databases, specifically within the AWS ecosystem (RDS or Aurora). - Snowflake Proficiency: Strong experience working with Snowflake, including data loading, performance tuning, and warehouse cost management. - Advanced SQL Profiling: Exceptional skills in query profiling, execution plan analysis (EXPLAIN), partition strategies, and index optimization. - Hands-on ETL/ELT: Proven experience building and maintaining data pipelines using tools like dbt, Airflow, AWS Glue, or custom Python scripting. - Data Migration & Synchronization: Core experience using AWS Data Migration Service (DMS) to move and continuously synchronize data between relational databases and data warehouses. - Version Control: Absolute proficiency with Git. NICE TO HAVE SKILLS - Python scripting and automation experience. - Experience with CDC technologies (Debezium, AWS DMS, Fivetran, etc.). - Experience with real-time streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.). - Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as TCPA, CTIA, and SOC 2. - Bash/Shell scripting experience. - Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana, etc.).
