Job Description
Summary: The First Electronics Corporation (FEC) specializes in the manufacture of custom cable assemblies and electro-mechanical systems for military applications. They are seeking a Termination Technician responsible for wire preparation, insulation removal, and ensuring electrical integrity of wire performance according to customer specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Wire measurement (SAE Standards)
- Wire insulation removal
- Use of a heat gun to flow solder, solder sleeves, and shrink heat shrink insulation
- Use of crimp tools to properly crimp pins on wire
- Checking for electrical conductivity with a low-voltage wire buzzer to make sure the prepared wire and contact show electrical continuity
- Removal or separation of metal shield braid on wire with a razor blade and a small pick to terminate the shield braid and expose the wire conductors underneath the shielding
- Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required

- Ability to perform wire insulation removal
- Ability to use a heat gun to flow solder, solder sleeves, and shrink heat shrink insulation
- Ability to use crimp tools to properly crimp pins on wire
- Ability to check for electrical conductivity with a low-voltage wire buzzer
- Ability to remove or separate metal shield braid on wire with a razor blade and a small pick
- Ability to tin wire
- Ability to apply solder to wire, contact pins and sockets, and terminal lugs
- Ability to understand numbers and letter symbols on a wiring diagram
- Good workmanship in accordance with IPC-620 cable manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with IPC-620 cable manufacturing
- Ability to communicate and share in the English language
