Job Description
Summary: Transamerica is a financial services company that focuses on helping individuals achieve financial freedom. They are seeking an Actuarial Analyst to perform actuarial research, analyze data to support risk management, and contribute to the development of products and industry trend assessments.
Responsibilities:
- Compile and categorize data in support of actuarial related studies, projects or reports
- Assist in preparing schedules of statistics, financial statements, premiums, reserves and benefits or other actuarial information. Document and verify the information used in computations
- Input data and run pricing, reserving, or asset/liability models
- Learn and apply various actuarial techniques and procedures in the course of work, while developing an understanding of the company's products and actuarial methodology
- Calculate premiums, reserves and/or non-forfeiture values of new and existing plans of insurance or similar calculations
- Compile, evaluate and certify statistical data. Document assumptions and/or methodology used in calculations
- Assist in preparing the actuarial portions of financial statements or other documents (e.g. state insurance department filings, rating agency survey forms, internal management reports, etc.)
- Assist in analyzing reserves, developing rate indicators, evaluating pricing levels and/or analyzing profitability
- Complete projects with minimal supervision
- May direct the work of one or more Actuarial Students or Actuarial Technicians
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field
- Participation in a relevant Actuarial internship or three months of relevant experience
- Completion of one actuarial exam and an active participant in the Actuarial Student Program, taking additional exams for FSA
- Knowledge of advanced mathematical and analytical concepts
- Ability to interpret complex analytical data
- Communication skills, verbally and in writing
- Work well under pressure and within time constraints to accomplish individual and team objectives
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
