Job Description
Summary: Tolmar is a fully integrated pharmaceutical company based in Colorado that specializes in developing, manufacturing, and distributing branded and generic prescription pharmaceuticals. They are seeking an Intern for the Formulation Development team, responsible for creating drug formulations for new product development projects, primarily through laboratory work and data reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Ordering and maintaining an inventory of test supplies
- Keeping a detailed laboratory notebook to document experimental following ALCOA+ principles
- Manufacturing small lab-scale drug product batches and performing characterization testing under the direct supervision of a Formulation Scientist
- Analyzing results and preparing a final study report to summarize experimental results and conclusions
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a BS degree in Engineering or Physical Sciences discipline
- Enthusiasm about working in a laboratory environment on a collaborative team
- Have achieved an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate lab-scale manufacturing and testing equipment
- Safely handle chemicals, solvents, hazardous materials, and pharmaceutical products
- Knowledge of engineering principles and pharmaceutical industry
- Effective written and oral communication
- Good documentation practice and technical writing ability
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing
- Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of statistical experimental design methods (Design of Experiments - DOE)
- Chemistry, or Chemical, Biomedical, or Biological Engineering preferred
